Selection of shot for definite purposes.
Today the most widespread abrasive is steel shot. Spherical shot presents itself steel particles, made of eutectoid alloyed steel, via KNOW-HOW technology that allows to get optimal performance characteristics.
Grit is the resulting angular particles in the form of irregular polyhedron obtained by means of shot crushing special technology with the subsequent screening.
The decisive criteria of shot quality are durability that is worked out with testing for durability and density that is shot influence on work surface.
Durability of shot and grit is defined with the Ervin Test Machine. This machine simulates the process of blast cleaning.
Density of shot is determined with Almen Test - the effect from shot treatment of treated surface.
Size of shot and grit is chosen in accordance with requirements to surface roughness but the lowest right fraction is applied. The finer shot fraction is, the better the covering level of work surface is, because smaller size of sieve leads to doubling of particles quantity per 1 kg abrasive. All these characteristics provide great potential to improve results and efficiency of the treatment.
Steel shot application ensures less wear of tools, cuts time treatment for achieving necessary quality. Also it dirties work pieces less and significantly reduces consumption of shot.
